In this case, the W-500D channels the spirit of two iconic dreadnoughts from the C.F. Martin Company—the D-35 and the D-45. With its stunning 3-piece back design reminiscent of the D-35 and intricate detailing inspired by the D-45, this guitar offers exceptional vintage charm at a fraction of the cost of its American counterparts.
Produced for just a few years between 1975 and 1977, C.F. Mountain had a brief run before Martin’s legal action forced them to briefly rebrand as Canyon. Yasuo Momose, the brilliant luthier behind these guitars, eventually went on to create Headway Guitars, which continues to make waves in the industry today.
